Good Communication Skills and Excellent Customer Service

In addition to good communication skills, a concession stand worker must strive to provide compassionate and informative customer service. The food service workers and cashiers will need to confirm orders, answer customer questions, and may need to engage in conversations with customers at times.

Reliability and Positive Attitude

Just because concession stand work is often an entry-level or part-time position does not mean that workers can slack while working. Look for someone who has a history of reliability: showing up on time to previous jobs, putting in the work, and no prior behavioral incidents.

And keep in mind that a positive attitude is key. Most customers attend events with food stands on special occasions, specifically as a fun outing. Employees need to maintain the atmosphere of the sports event, amusement park, etc.

Stamina

Candidates don’t need to have physical fitness requirements, but they may be working long shifts on their feet, which can be physically demanding. They may also need to lift heavy items, like kegs or food preparation equipment.
