GigSmart | Mar 25, 2020

We’ve partnered with Stride Health, the complete benefits solution for the independent workforce! Together we’re going to help our community of over 160,000 + Get Gigs users save time and money on their health, dental, vision, life, accident, and disability insurance, as well as help them track their business expenses and lower their tax bills.

A Better Way to Healthcare Enrollment

As healthcare costs continue to rise, and coronavirus (COVID-19) fears leave our nation unsure about what will happen next, it’s never been more important than right now to get the right coverage. At the same time, getting enrolled and insured is a complicated process. We know our community of skilled Workers face a dizzying array of options and complicated processes when it comes to enrolling in the insurance they need, and we know they can end up paying more than they should because they’re not aware of available subsidies that can lower their premiums. As a result, many independent Workers are left frustrated by an extremely time-consuming process, which reduces their availability to find and work more open Gigs. But today that changes, through our partnership with Stride, we’re making it easier than ever for you to enroll in the right health coverage at the lowest possible prices. The GigSmart + Stride benefits portal offers an array of additional resources to help our Get Gigs userbase learn more about expense tracking, preparing and filing taxes, and more.

Extended Special Enrollment Due to COVID-19

Typically Open Enrollment for health insurance plans happens at the end of the calendar year. However, due to special circumstances surrounding COVID-19, 12 health exchanges have opened up a Special Enrollment Period for health insurance. If you live in any of the following states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Washington; or you live in the District of Columbia; and you are a qualifying individual who doesn’t currently have insurance, you can enroll in a health plan now. Every state has differing deadlines and requirements for enrollment, some as soon as April 2, so to learn more, please visit gigsmart.stridehealth.com/coverage or check out Stride’s COVID-19 Resource Guide for Independent Workers.

Get Your Independent Worker Benefits Today

All Get Gigs users are encouraged to visit the Worker benefits portal where they can complete a simple, online assessment to help them source a tailored benefits plan with specific recommendations for their circumstances, budget, and beyond. Stride also has a free app that gives you the ability to track your expenses throughout the year to make sure you submit all of the money-saving deductions you deserve at tax time. In addition, we’ll be working with Stride to create additional training opportunities to ensure you know all there is to know about insurance and taxes, especially as an independent Worker.
