GigSmart’s Shift Gig Cancellation Policy

This cancellation policy applies to all Shift Gigs scheduled on or after January 6, 2022. This page was last updated on November 9, 2024.

Cancellation Fees vary based on when and where the Shift was Published, Scheduled, and subsequently Canceled.

 

All Shift Locations

Workers who arrive and have their Shift clock started will be required to be compensated for no less than 50% of the posted Shift duration.
    • Workers can be sent home at any time during the Shift, but they will be required to be compensated for no less than 50% of the posted Shift duration

Non-California Shift Locations

If a requester cancels a Shift that was published 10 or more hours before the Shift start time:
    • The Cancellation Fee window begins 10 hours before the Shift start time.
    • Cancelling Shifts 10 or more hours ahead of the Shift start time do not incur a Cancellation Fee.
    • From 10 hours until the Shift start time, a Cancellation Fee of 50% of the Shift duration per scheduled worker will be charged.
If a requester cancels a Shift that was published less than 10 hours before the Shift start time:
    • The Cancellation Fee window begins 2 hours before the Shift start time.
    • Cancelling Shifts more than 2 hours and less than 10 hours before the Shift start time do not incur a Cancellation Fee.
    • From 2 hours until the Shift start time, a Cancellation Fee of 50% of the Shift duration per scheduled worker will be charged.
If a requester cancels an ASAP Shift:
    • The Cancellation Fee window begins as soon as the Shift is published.
    • Once the Shift is published, a Cancellation Fee of 50% of the Shift duration per scheduled worker who has gone en-route to the Shift location will be charged.
      • If a worker is canceled and they have not yet gone en-route, there will be no cancellation fee.

California Shift Locations

If a requester cancels a Shift that was published 24 or more hours before the Shift start time:
    • The Cancellation Fee window begins 24 hours before the Shift start time.
    • Cancelling Shifts 24 or more hours ahead of the Shift start time do not incur a Cancellation Fee.
    • From 24 hours until the Shift start time, a Cancellation Fee of 50% of the Shift duration per scheduled worker will be charged.
If a requester cancels a Shift that was published less than 24 hours before the Shift start time:
    • For all Shifts posted less than 24 hours before the Shift start time, a Cancellation Fee of 50% of the Shift duration per scheduled worker will be charged.

Cancellation fees ensure GigSmart workers, who have committed to working a Shift over other opportunities, are compensated for their time.
