To further support a wide range of customer needs, we have expanded our capabilities by launching Project Gigs, giving residential users a way to connect with local service professionals while driving more business to home service professionals across the country. Now, in addition to using Get Workers to find and hire on-demand, hourly temporary workers and/or part or full-time employees, you can tackle your home projects with ease.
Project Gigs give users the ability to post home improvement jobs, the option to pay workers through the app, and standard features like the ability to see worker ratings and reviews, message and call workers through the app— all of which help take the complexity out of completing home projects.
Find trusted workers at fair prices for any home project with Get Workers.
What is a Project Gig?
Project Gigs connect you with skilled workers who are interested in completing your task or project. After posting a Project Gig, you can review applicants and their bids before negotiating a final price and hiring workers.
How do Project Gigs work?
- Post your Project.
- Get notified as soon as you have applicants and bids.
- Pay a small fee to unlock your Gig, giving you the ability to review full profiles and communicate directly with workers.
- Complete work and pay the worker how you want – inside or outside of the app.
Steps to Create a Project
Project Gigs helps homeowners tackle routine maintenance and repairs, or hefty home renovations — big or small — in their Get Workers account. Creating a Project Gig is easy and only takes a few minutes. To get started, login to your Get Workers account and select Create a Project Gig.
Note: If you are already using Get Workers for your business and want to use it at home, switch to Personal Mode in your profile to post a Project Gig.
Step 1: Choose a Project Category.
Select one category that best suits your needs. Project Gigs are available in 27 residential categories like Cleaning, Furniture Assembly, Handyman, Moving, Painting, and Pet Care.
Looking for a worker to complete something digitally? You can use Project Gigs for that too. Hire workers across 8 digital and remote categories including Photo & Video, Graphic Design, and Computer & IT. To access these categories, scroll to the bottom of your screen and select “Digital & Remote Work.”
Step 2: Add your Address.
If your Project category isn’t remote, an address is required for your Gig. But rest assured, it will not be displayed to a worker until you have hired them.
Step 3: Select a Date and Time
Add your date and desired start time. The date can be scheduled in advance, up to 30 days out. Note projects do not require a scheduled date and time. If you do not have a firm date in mind, select Decide Date & Time with Workers and continue.
Step 4: Add a Worker Payment Method
You have a variety of payment options available to you, which include cash, check, or via a digital transfer such as Venmo. Select the option that works best for you.
Step 5: Enter Project Details
Add your Project Title and Description. The more detailed, the better. We recommend outlining specific tasks you’re looking for workers to complete, designating any tools that are required, and adding arrival instructions in your description. Adding Project photos is optional, but can be particularly helpful when dealing with home projects.
Step 6: Review and Post
Ensure the Project Gig details look accurate and click Post Project. Posting a Project is free and a payment method is never required to post. Once posted, we get to work by alerting all workers within a 75-mile radius of the Project address who have matching skill sets, helping you secure qualified applicants with ease. Your project will expire 30 days from when it’s posted.
Unlock Your Project to Connect with Applicants
Sourcing applicants is completely free. Once you’ve received at least one applicant, you can pay to Unlock the Project. Unlocking your Project Gig gives you the ability to view full applicant profiles, compare bid details, message applicants, hire applicants, and pay workers in-app (if you choose to). There is a one-time fee of $4.99 to unlock your Project.
Hire a Worker
Ready to get started? Review and compare bids from highly rated workers near you. Once you find a worker (or workers) you like, select Hire. Once the worker accepts your Project Offer, they will be moved to the Hired Tab in your Get Workers app.
From here, you will work directly with the hired worker to confirm Project details, ensure work is completed to your standards, and pay any workers hired via the agreed upon payment method (inside or outside of the app) at the agreed upon pay rate.
Mark the Project as Complete
Once your Project is complete, you can Mark the Project as Complete. Marking the Project as Complete will update the worker’s status from Hired to Pending Review, which will prompt you to complete the Worker Summary.
Once completed, you’ll need to finalize the worker payment. You can pay through the Get Workers app or indicate that the Project has been paid outside the app. Lastly, rate and review your worker to inform other requesters who may choose to hire them in the future. Note: workers will also have the opportunity to rate and review you.
If no action is taken, the Project Gig will automatically be closed after 30 days. Should you need to keep your Project open beyond it’s expiration date, you can pay a one-time $3.99 fee to extend your Project for another 30 days.
